Satan Real?

Satan, Lucifer, Beelzebub, the Prince of Darkness, these are a few names describing the unseen leader of the forces of darkness in this world. Is he just a fictional character, an ugly red monster with horns, a tail, and a pitchfork? Or is he an actual personality that can influence the mindsets and behavior of people all over the world, if they allow him to? The picture I just painted of Satan is the familiar image that comes to the minds of most people when the devil is mentioned.

However, Satan is not a fictional character or a figment of the imagination. He is a real spiritual being who has a specific agenda: to destroy people’s lives and lead them to Hell.

Good and evil are not just random dichotomies subject to personal interpretations. In today’s world, it is not uncommon for what is good to be called evil, and what is evil to be labeled good! We know this is not the truth. These two spiritual forces can actually be paralleled with love and selfishness. One is inspired by God and the other by Satan, respectively.

Satan exists in the unseen spiritual realm and manifests himself in the physical realm as evil, selfishness, carnality, perversion, destruction, death, sin, sickness, poverty, and a host of other negative entities. The biggest lie he pushes off on people is that he does not exist, when in fact, he is real!

This fallen angel was not always the devil; at one time his name was Lucifer. He was an archangel who was the overseer of music and worship in Heaven. The Bible says he was extremely beautiful and actually housed musical capabilities within himself (Ezekiel 28:13).

Unfortunately, he decided to rebel against God and was expelled from Heaven, along with one third of the angels who followed him. He has been assigned to Hell, a place of torment, created specifically for him. Those who reject Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior choose Satan as their lord by default and ultimately will find themselves in Hell.

The devil hates God and he hates mankind, because man was made in the image of God. This is why he constantly tries to influence people to do things that will end up destroying them. He is not our friend and there are no friends in Hell.

To grasp the reality of God and Satan as opposing spiritual beings, first understand there are two realms in operation at all times—the spiritual realm with the activities taking place in it, and the natural physical realm, which is comprised of those things we can see, feel, taste, hear, and smell. The spiritual realm consists of everything we cannot see with our physical eyes. God, Satan, Heaven, Hell, angels, demons, and spiritual matter exist in this realm, and while you may not be able to physically see them, this does not change the fact that they exist.

Satan’s objective is to steal, kill, and destroy. He operates through the carnal nature of man—the flesh, or any way of thinking that opposes God’s Word. He is not omnipotent or omnipresent, meaning he is not all-knowing nor present everywhere at the same time like God.

However, he does dispatch demonic forces at all times to tempt, torment, and terrorize people through fear-based thoughts. Those who do not know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior can be used by demons, as can Believers who have carnal thinking or who are oppressed in their souls (the mind, will, and emotions).

Satan launches attacks against people and is successful when he can infiltrate their minds and inspire them to think in line with his agenda, which is anti-Christ and anti-love. This is the starting point of every crime and unlawful act. I have often said the mind is the arena of faith; it is where battles are won and lost. Every demonically-inspired activity originates as a thought in a person’s mind. Satan will speak or suggest something to a person and leave them to carry out those words. He is an expert at playing on negative emotions and influencing people to do his bidding in the Earth. If his suggestions are left unchecked, and no standard is raised to judge them as wrong, they will eventually lead to decisions and actions that can have serious consequences, both spiritually and physically.

Satan can indeed possess people, but satanic manifestations are the only indication of his presence. He shows up through the subtle influences of deception, negative emotions, and fear. It is through these avenues that he seeks to blind the minds of people and put them in some type of bondage.

The good news is that while Satan is real, so is God! In fact, God is more powerful than any demonic force in Hell. And when a Christian knows who they are in Christ, they can exercise authority over the devil and stop his works.

Do not fall for the lie that the devil is not real. Choose today to believe in the unseen realm of the spirit, and stay on the side of all that is good. If you have not accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, I encourage you to do so today! Simply ask Him to come into your heart and forgive you of your sins. He is faithful to honor His Word. Allow the Lord to reveal the truth about the spirit realm to your heart, so you can be fully aware of the forces at work in this Earth.

Satan is the spirit of fear, and this week’s message, Overcoming the Spirit of Fear; will change your life. Jesus has made us free from fear and the torment that comes with it. We can no longer be defeated by the enemy in this area. Order your copy today!
