It was a long hard fight. There must be an equal balance between the positive and negative. I researched and dug and dug until I thought my eyes would pop out. My husband died in 2001 and I applied then and was denied. I reopened the case in 2004 and was denied again not matter what evidence I sent in.
About 2-3 years ago I got a letter in the mail that my case had been remanded and was going to be looked at again. Well, I got busy and I put in many hours of research. I found two affadavits that had been signed by scientists had signed stating that A.O. did cause colon cancer. I also found an affadavit where a General that the VA had gotten to research and submit a report to them on A.O. and cancer. In his report, he added colon cancer. I found where the herbicide broke down the immune system of the human body. I bombarded the Appeal Board with all this and more.
Colon cancer has been moved from the category of no association to not enough evidence to prove or disprove that A.O. causes colon cancer. And VA themselves state, that, when there they can’t prove or disprove they always award the benefit. I also sent that, (their own statement) in to them also.
Your must have enough evidence to create an equal balance between positive and negative for VA to award your claim. I had found several claims on the internet that had been awarded for colon cancer and sent those in too.
I so hope this helps you. I am going to copy and paste this to others that have wrote me.
Keep fighting
When you enter a claim,,enter any other clain as well…list all problem areas from teeth to toe,,(: anyone fighting for agent orange, colon cancer please answer..
Question: I am in the process of re-filing a claim on behalf of my Mom. My father passed away from Colon Cancer Stage IV in 2009. He was exposed to Agent Orange while in Vietnam. Where can I find the actual change in the VA’s language? I am looking for the language which states that the VA can neither prove nor disprove the connection between Agent Orange and Colon Cancer but I cannot find it. Additionally, I cannot find any information that states in cases of failing to prove or disprove the VA always awards benefits. I feel that this information is extremely important in ordre for me to succeed on the claim. What additional information did you provide?

This is addressed to the one who said they had an affadavits stating that agent orange does cause colon cancer. My husband is also in the process of finding information on the link. He too has been denied, he served in Viet Nam, and also has had colon cancer. No one else has had this cancer in his family. Any information would be very helpful

I read somewhere it was admiral Zunwalt who commented about agent orange causing colon cancer,Its just a matter of time, when enough Vietnam vets die, they will admit agent orange caused all cancers in some form or another, I wish there was some way of finding out how many vn veterans have died or survived colon cancer the last 10 years,,I bet its closing in on prostate numbers?

My husband died in July 2014 of colon cancer. He was a vietnam vet with type 2 diabetes related to A.O.. The VA has been teaating him since his discharge in 1982. They were treating him for the cance but denied my claim for benefits saying his death was not service connected. I need any help I can get.
