Here, we see the Christians (the 24 elders) taking the rewards they received for faithfulness (their crowns) and casting them back at the feet of the throne of God.
Why would they do such a thing?
Some of the most precious possessions the Christian will enjoy in eternity are the rewards for faithfulness that are given to them. Casting them at the feet of God is not an act of rejection of the rewards; on the contrary, it is a display of their recognition that God deserves the rewards that they have received.
