Jesus’ disciples were used to storms – but this time, there was something different! They were “troubled” by what they saw – “Jesus came to them, walking on the sea” (Mark 6:49-50). They couldn’t get their heads round this. Before they could think too much about what was happening, Jesus said to them, “Beof good cheer! It is I; do not beafraid” (Mark 6:50).
What about us? How do we react when we can’t understand what’s happening to us? Are we so filled with our confused and confusing emotions that we fail to hear what the Lord is saying to us? Jesus still comes to us with his words of “good cheer.” He still comes to us, assuring us that he is with us. He still comes to us, saying to us, “Do not be afraid.”
We may never, fully, understand all that’s going on in our lives – but…
