Why were we Born?

February 16, 2020

God placed us all on earth. He wants us to love his son Jesus Christ Jesus died for all our sins. If we are not forgiven we can’t spend ever lasting life with God. Sin’s rewards is death Separated from God in total darkness and punishment. God was us to choose Jesus, so we can […]

Who is Jesus Christ? What has He done for us? On February 16, 2020 By charlieIn 2 Corinthians, Isaiah, One Year Bible, Proverbs Isaiah 8:11-10:19; 2 Corinthians 8:1-15; Proverbs 21:27-22:6 Who is Jesus Christ? What has He done for us? God’s answer to these questions is found in Isaiah 9:6 – “He will be called Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace” and 2 Corinthians 8:9 – “our Lord Jesus Christ was rich, yet for your sakes, He became poor, so that you through His poverty might become rich.” We have true riches when we know God: “Rich and poor have this in common: The Lord is the Maker of them all” (Proverbs 22:2). Where does the desire to follow Christ come from? — Daily Devotional Readings

February 16, 2020

Matthew 8:23-9:17 In 8:23-9:8, we read of three great miracles, in which Christ demonstrates His power over nature (23), demons (28-34) and sickness (1-8). Where does the desire to follow Christ come from? On February 15, 2020 By charlie In Daily Devotional Readings, Matthew Matthew 8:23-9:17 In 8:23-9:8, we read of three great miracles, in which Christ demonstrates His power over nature (23), demons (28-34) and sickness (1-8). Following such mighty works of power, the next verse seems so ordinary – Jesus said, ‘Follow me.’ Matthew ‘rose and followed Him’ (9). Matthew’s conversion may seem so unspectacular, but it is no less a mighty work of God than the great miracles which preceded it. Where does the desire to follow Christ come from? Does it come from our own sinful hearts? No! It comes from the Word of Christ, spoken in power and love – ‘He drew me and I followed on, charmed to confess the Voice Divine’ (Mission Praise, 499). In the human heart there is resistance – we say, ‘I am “righteous”. “I have no need” of a Saviour’ (12-13). This resistance is broken down by Christ when ‘new wine is put into fresh wine skins’ (17).
