← This TRUTHS FROM ROMANS I GOD’S WRATH AGAINST ALL UNGODLINESS AND UNRIGHTEOUSNESS In the first chapter of Romans, Paul teaches us so much about the dangers involved in not believing all of God’s Word and God’s wrath against ALL ungodliness and unrighteousness. PAUL PREACHED CHRIST BECAUSE OF WHO CHRIST IS In Romans 1:1-15 we see how Paul introduced himself to the Romans as a bond servant to Christ who was 1) called by God to be an apostle and 2) separated unto the gospel. Christ was “made” of the seed of David according to the flesh, but “declared” the Son of God according to the spirit of holiness. Furthermore Jesus proved the truth of this declaration by His resurrection from the dead. (Romans 1:1-4). WHO IS UNRIGHTEOUS AND WILL EXPERIENCE GOD’S WRATH? In Romans 1:16-32 we see why God’s wrath is against any person who holds the truth in unrighteousness and even what that means. Verse 18 tells us the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against ALL ungodliness and unrighteousness of men. So who is ungodly and unrighteous? We are told clearly in many places that humanity is under the condemnation and penalty of sin. “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?” ‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭17:9‬ ‭KJV‬‬ God hates unrighteousness and ungodliness. What is unrighteousness? 1) denying God’s existence or denying the true God, YHWH, as revealed in scripture 2) Refusing to worship God or bend our knee before Him 3) Refusing to obey His commandments or deliberately breaking them 4) Rejecting God’s only remedy for sin (“Adam’s sin led to condemnation, but God’s free gift leads to our being made right with God.”) ( See Romans 5:16 also Romans 3:23) We are all unrighteous until we turn to Christ in repentance and faith and are washed clean by His blood. (1 John 1:7) Why is God’s wrath going to be revealed? Verses 18-20 make it very clear! God has revealed Himself and people ignore and reject the TRUTH. Here are the things Paul says people know and yet ignore.. 1) Those who receive the wrath will be those who hold the TRUTH in unrighteousness… (vs 18) (Jesus is the Truth. John 14:6) 2) because the heavens manifest that which may be known of God and… (vs 19) 3) God shows it to everyone…(vs 19) 4) Creation reveals clearly so that even the eternal Godhead, (even the invisible things of God) can be understood so no man is without excuse…vs 20 (God’s Spirit is invisible, Jesus is the visible image) WHY? Romans 1:21-25 tell us what causes people who have this revealed to them, to still be “given up to their own uncleanness! Listen… ”Because that, when they KNEW God, they glorified Him not as God, neither were thankful…and their foolish hearts were darkened.” Romans 1:21 Those who reject John 1:1. We are told plainly in John 1:1 that Jesus is God and is to be glorified…* ”In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through Him all things were made, and without Him nothing was made that has been made. In Him was life, and that life was the light of men. The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it…The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the one and only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.” John 1-4, 14 At some point, every accountable person knows the Truth! The world offers all sorts of options from living in sin to trusting religion to trusting in ourselves. God offers only ONE option. The OT revels YHWH and He promises that God, Himself, will redeem His people – those who will live and trust Him. People will either accept God’s Way, Christ the Messiah, or they are “holding the truth in unrighteousness.” Christ is the Truth and He is righteousness to all who receive Him. WHAT HAPPENS TO THOSE WHO DO NOT BELIEVE IN THE TRUE CHRIST OR GLORIFY HIM? God says our hearts will be darkened if we reject this. Jesus said we cannot have the Father without the Son so by rejecting the Son a person rejects the Father and the Holy Spirit who the Son sends to those who believe. This is rejecting God and His righteousness! Part of the things that happens is a person whose heart is darkened (because they rejected Christ who is the Light of the world) and are unrighteous because they rejected Christ who is made to be “…our righteousness, sanctification, and redemption, in order that, as it is written: The one who boasts must boast in the Lord.”‭‭ 1 Corinthians‬ ‭1:30-31 is that the person will commit sexual sins and will follow creatures (men) rather than the Creator, but they don’t realize it because they have no true light to guide them. In India, Hindus worship cows. Buddhists follow a man and worship an idol. Cults follow human leaders. What is the only remedy? Repent and believe the true gospel – that Christ came, the righteous for the unrighteous. That Christ lived a perfect life, fulfilling all righteousness in our place. That He died for the sin of all mankind and was resurrected to overcome death and the grave! Because Christ emptied Himself of Glory and humbled Himself in order to save a lost and dying world, many refuse to thank Him or give Him glory. This causes foolish hearts to be darkened. Yet Christ is worthy as we are told in The Revelation. Verses Teaching Christ’s Glory* “And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, that ye who have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit on the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭19:28‬ ‭ASV‬‬ When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory: Matthew 25:31 “They said unto him, Grant unto us that we may sit, one on thy right hand, and the other on thy left hand, in thy glory.” ‭‭Mark‬ ‭10:37‬ ‭KJV‬‬ “And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory. And then shall he send his angels, and shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from the uttermost part of the earth to the uttermost part of heaven.” ‭‭Mark‬ ‭13:26-27‬ ‭KJV‬‬

You’ll be pleased to know that Presbyterians disavowed themselves of that belief years ago). But the doctrine of predestination simply says —God is for us. … That’s what the prophets were trying to say: —God is for us. “ Even in God’s judgment, God judges in order to save.Jul 18, 2004
